Since March 2008, Langhorne Slim has headlined over 150 shows and played major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bumbershoot, Austin City Limits Festival, Newport Folk Fest, Sunset Junction, Pickathon, Rhythm and Roots, and SXSW. The band garnered heavy acclaim for their performance of “Restless” on the David Letterman show and were WXPN’s artist of the month. The band is now touring the US and Europe in support of their third album "Be Set Free", their most cohesive and cinematic effort to date. This is a live show you will not want to miss.
MOKB Proudly Presents: Cotton Jones Live Feb.4th @ White Rabbit Cabaret!
Tickets are only $8 and may be purchased HERE
The music of Cotton Jones speaks of transition: the passage from one form, state of mind, style or place to another. “Tall Hours in the Glowstream,’” is the title of their new album. The Glowstream is a place centered between North and South Cumberland. It’s not really called the Glowstream – just a stream that rolls to a dead end by the train tracks downtown. A place to sit, undisturbed in the cool shade, and see the interstate bend around glowing steeples, as cars and trucks break their speed – it’s beautiful – how the city materializes, an oasis, after driving many miles through the mountains along I-68 – to this spot, where it’s possible to witness all the paces change.

Start the holiday season off right with an awesome show featuring Langhorne Slim @ Radio Radio Dec.8th.

Join us for a spectacular evening of nonsense and debauchery with the behemoth MarchFourth Marching Band. Tickets are still available here or at the door for only $10. They will be performing two sets (no opening act). Doors open at 8 PM. White Rabbit Cabaret in Fountain Square.
MarchFourth Marching Band is a mobile big band spectacular, consisting of saxophones, trombones, trumpets and a drum/percussion corps, anchored by pumping battery-powered electric bass. Stilt-walkers, dancing girls, flag twirlers, clown antics, and acrobatics accompany this eclectic ensemble. The sound is huge, melodic, and dynamic, taking audiences on a musical journey around the globe. MarchFourth’s original material draws inspiration from an eclectic range of influences, such as gypsy brass, samba, funk, afro-beat, big-band, jazz, and rock music, as well as television, film, circus, and vaudeville.
MarchFourth is a date, a command, and a band. Imagine Duke Ellington meets Sgt. Pepper in an international big-top Fantasia. Imagine a 1920′s speakeasy where Mr. Bungle meets the Shogun Warriors in a PG Clockwork Orange. Imagine running into this giant spectacle marching through a festival, down a street, or onto stage. The impact is immediate and infectious!
To MarchFourth Marching Band, art is life. Aside from being performers, the members of MarchFourth are also full- or part-time artists, designers, and craftspeople. All their drum harnesses (welded from recycled bicycle parts), stilts, costumes, merchandise, audio, and visual propaganda are designed and produced by members of the band.

My Old Kentucky Blog Presents has been wowed by recent Pecha Kucha events in Indianapolis. So much so that we've decided to lend a hand in making Pecha Kucha 10 a special event and introduce it to more of the talented and culturally-supportive folks in the Indianapolis music scene. Pecha Kucha 10 will be centered on music and consist of ten presentations, each presenter having 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds. Each presenter has just 6 minutes 40 seconds to explain their ideas before the next presenter takes the stage. Pecha Kucha was conceived as a venue through which idea-people could meet, show their work, exchange ideas, and network. The format keeps presentations concise, fast-paced and entertaining. The power of Pecha Kucha is that the success of each presentation relies purely on the presenter’s personality and the strength of their ideas.
The beauty of Pecha Kucha Night lies in the tension between the chaos of a full-blown party and the politeness (and sometimes not) of an art school crit, with the snappy pace holding it all together. Like any open-mic night, this is an intense fight for attention. On one side, the presenter “selling” his work or idea to the audience, on the other, the bar selling beer to the same audience.
Immediately following the Pecha Kucha presentations, MOKB and friends will welcome back Indianapolis music icons The Pieces. The Pieces lineup features all 3 original members including Vess Ruhtenberg, Heidi Gluck and Devon Ashley.
